The annual carnival is famous for changing its theme each year to reflect current events in Nigeria and the world. It serves as both an entertainment spectacle and a platform for intellectual engagement, education, and information dissemination.
This year’s Carnival is set to impress with an array of colorful costumes, elaborate floats, pyrotechnics, magic performances, acrobatics, and more along the 12-kilometer carnival route. The carnival is a celebration of Cross River State’s rich cultural heritage, known for its hospitality and warm African welcome.
Carnival Calabar is a vital tourism event in Cross River State’s calendar and aims to drive socioeconomic transformation through the performing arts.
Some exciting additions to this year’s carnival include a children’s carnival, boat regatta, the Night of Kings and Queens, and an essay competition to incorporate an academic element into the festivities.
Moreover, there are plans to collaborate with the Brazilian Embassy to elevate the quality of costumes, wire bending, and parade floats.
With a fresh team overseeing the Carnival Commission, expectations are high for an unprecedented carnival experience filled with engaging content and entertainment.
The preparations are in full swing, and Carnival Calabar 2023 is poised to deliver thrilling and unforgettable moments for all attendees.
